GENERAL CONSULTATIONS (IN-PERSON/ONLINE)
In-person consultations are available to locals within or around Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City. Frequent visits to California, Utah and Arizona also make In-Person sessions likely, with advance notice. SEND AN INQUIRY FOR MORE DETAILS.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CONSULTATION?
The primary reason most people need a consultation is because they have no idea why their dog is doing or acting a certain way and even those who do, have no idea how to begin resolving the issue. During my consultation, after hearing what your concerns and issues are, I will need to see how your dog acts, when you’re not physically present. This will give me a more accurate read on the dog. I will explain my observations to you, make sure you understand and can make sense of them, and we will proceed to breaking down what a training routine to resolve the issue will look like.
My goal is to teach you how to train your dog because ultimately, all of your dogs issues stem from the type of relationship you have built with your dog. Generally speaking, you are the cause, and therefore you have to make the change that causes the dog’s behavior to change.
I will explain what interactions in the house should look like, and we will learn how to reinforce and correct your dog properly.
If your issue is reactivity, you must understand that it takes on average 3 months of consistency to see true results. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOUR PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED DURING A CONSULTATION. I will provide you with all the information you will need to start training your dog. You may also request access to my training site afterwards, which will give you a refresher of all the concepts explained, as I’ve realized sometimes they may feel overwhelming at times. If you require consistent weekly training, you can then choose to book bi-weekly sessions for as long as you feel you need guidance. You’re always welcome to check in with me via text anytime, ask questions, get clarification on anything we discuss.
If your dog has any aggressive or reactive tendencies, it is required that you muzzle train them and keep a muzzle on (crate them) when I arrive. I will typically have you meet me outside with your dog before I walk in. Depending on the issue, I most likely need to see it first hand, so we’ll have to set ourselves in a situation where I can observe the problem. I generally will meet at an open park when we’re dealing with reactivity to other dogs, along with my helper dog, so I can properly observe the extent of your dog’s issue. Each session lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. Sessions are usually video recorded so let me know if you’d prefer not to be recorded, you’d like just the dog recorded, your face blurred, etc. To ensure your dog is motivated to eat food or treats during our session I suggest not feeding your dog for at least 12-24 hours before the session, especially if your dog isn’t generally food motivated. If you have any questions, send a message!

MULTIPLE ZOOM / IN-PERSON TRAINING SESSIONS
We will meet 2 times a week. All sessions must be completed over a 30 day period.
Session 1:
Every successful training program requires a strong foundational element, putting your dog in a state of learning, and teaching you how to properly condition your dog to markers which is how we will mark all of your dog’s good behaviors in a way that makes sense to them. All training requires your dog be on a leash, which means proper leash handling techniques need to be discussed. This will happen indoors with no distractions. You will have 3-4 days to work on this before the next session.
Session 2:
When the basic concepts have been introduced, we will need to teach the dog how to respond outside with no distractions. Dogs don’t generalize very well so it’s important they know that SIT MEANS SIT, inside and outside. We will begin working on recall exercises, teaching your dog to return to you every time you say their name. In this session we will practice walking properly, ignoring distractions and building interest.
Session 3:
Lack of confidence is responsible for a lot of the issues dog owners face, so in this session, we will work on just that. There are a few exercises I will introduce to you and your dog, helping them face and conquer fears, thus building their level of confidence. With zoom training, you will have to find a quiet public area with some obstacle (bench, large rock, short wall etc) or take a place bed out to the location of your choice.
Session 4:
This will be a culmination of everything we’ve learned. We will finally go into the distracting world, so we can see if your dog is ready to be a good canine citizen. There are no certificates but if your goal is to be able to spend time with your dog in public settings, this will give you a chance to see where you need to focus more of your time and energy as far as training goes! At this point if you feel confident you can continue training on your own, moving forward, I will make myself available to answer any questions and offer guidance at any point for the next 3 months!
REQUIRED FOR IN-PERSON SESSIONS: For safety reasons your dog must be muzzled, crated, wearing a training collar such as a martingale collar or a slip leash. You may have other tools with you.
ZOOM SESSIONS
Many people still think they will only make progress if the trainer is physically present but that could not be farther from the truth. The most effective training for your dog is training for yourself (the human) and the trainer simply acts as a coach, helping you figure out the right moments to act, when to reward, make corrections, how to stand or move, along with demonstrations that make it easy for you to continue your training, once you’ve mastered the concepts. Single sessions are great for specific issues, however when it comes to issues of reactivity and aggression, there’s a foundation that needs to be set with your dog, before you can proceed to build on it. The option to break down training into multiple sessions over zoom does just that.
In the first session, we’ll talk about the issues and how they may have arisen in the first place, and then work on teaching your dog how to learn. I suggest not feeding your dog before the zoom session, so that they are adequately interested in their food, during the session. Afterwards, it’s your job to continue the training for a few days until you’re certain that your dog understands the concepts. After 3-4 days, we will have our second session, where we practice what we’ve learned in the first session, outside with no distractions. It’s important for all dogs during the learning process to learn that the rules apply both inside and outside, all the same. In the second session, we’ll work on desensitizing to tools, learn how to properly utilize leash pressure and then you will have the rest of the week to practice with your dog. During the 3rd and 4th sessions, we’ll start incorporating distractions, which means you will have to find a location with good phone reception/service and some activity (whatever your dog reacts to). It’s possible to book more sessions but typically by the 4th session, most people feel confident enough to continue the training process by themselves. During this process, you will have access to my online member area, where you can watch me work through these processes with multiple dogs, to make sure you’re doing it the right way. I would also like to see 2-3 minute video clips of your training sessions to ensure you’re doing it all the right way from the very start! If at any point you have questions or concerns, you’re welcome to reach out anytime!
REQUIRED FOR ONLINE SESSIONS: Bluetooth Earphones, Thin Slip Leash/Herm Sprenger Pinch Collar/Martingale Collar, Kennel/Place Bed, Dog Training Treat Pack/Pouch, Clicker.
