We unknowingly adopted a severely reactive dog, but learned of her behavioral challenges almost immediately after bringing her home. Frannie is an Australian Cattle Dog mix, and was just over 8 months old when we rescued her from a neglectful living situation where she was clearly not exposed to much and likely abused. During the adoption process we met Frannie twice and both times we was extremely scared and sweet. Once we brought her home, her reactivity surfaced and any time we were outside of our apartment, she would aggressively bark at anything that moved, from leaves to humans to other dogs. The rescue agency sent a trainer who practiced positivity-only training that was completely ineffective. During the first training session Frannie barked at this trainer for 3 hours nonstop then eventual nipped her as she tried to hand something to my girlfriend. I found Eric on Instagram and was impressed since he is the only trainer who posted videos of working with reactive dogs. All other trainers seemed to either be using very aggressive coercion, like shock collars or physical abuse, or just working with relatively easier dogs. Eric was the real thing, and we joined his Sunday zoom classes. During our first one I explained our situation and told Eric we were considering giving Frannie up because of how unprepared we were - he listened and then said that wouldn't be necessary since he had worked with dogs much worse than Frannie. We started with crate training and hand feeding, then progressed to engagement training, leash pressure, and some basic obedience. Fast forward 4 months and Frannie's behavior has completely transformed. Now we go on walks on crowded trails with runners, dogs, bikes, etc. and go to hectic social situations like shops and bars. Frannie acts like a pro. Even in the worst situations, such as when reactive dogs bark and expose their teeth to her is close proximity, she barks once or twice and then sits and looks at me, waiting for direction. Give it a couple of more months, and I'm sure that her initial barks will stop too. Eric's techniques really work, but the sad truth is that a lot of humans are literally incapable of trying them. When people ask me how I trained Frannie, I tell them about crate training and hand feeding and most times they respond saying that would never work for their dog. How do they know this? Your guess is as good as mine! If you are at the end of your rope and looking for a good, honest, effective, and affordable resource to improve your dogs life, I couldn't recommend Eric highly enough. We are so grateful that Eric convinced us not to give up on Frannie. She is the best dog we could have hoped for, and her improved behavior is all thanks to Eric's advice.

“My brother had a whole bunch of friends in town for his birthday and we tried all the techniques you told me, and Lily didn’t try to bite anybody, she was calm and relaxed. Thank you so much!

After watching Eric for 2 weeks, I can now walk my black lab shepherd with ease. She walks next to me, no pulling! Additionally, with examples and teaching from Eric, I can open the door and my dog sits until released! Thank you Eric and Capri!
